Pvris + Raue

Los Angeles, The Novo
Last Saturday, longtime fans of Pvris gathered at the Novo, LA’s venue seated in the heart of downtown, located next to the Crypto Arena (formerly Staples Center). Kings fans and music lovers mixed in the courtyard connecting the venues, hurriedly walking to their respective events, abuzz with anticipation of the night. Raue opened Pvris’ long awaited return to LA, unleashing their blend of grunge inspired alternative/pop-rock onto a receptive crowd.
They are a true presence onstage. The youthful duo delivers both a wall of sound—which is a quite a feat when employing backtracks, which occasionally go awry—and a captivating visual performance, imparting endless energy as they hammered out well-constructed songs, filling the stage with their infectious enthusiasm. Although they were new to many in the audience, the room was quickly invested in their music, bouncing along and cheering uproariously in between. A highlight was their cover of Radiohead’s “Creep”, which had all concertgoers singing along, giving the impression that they were playing a headliner’s set—the room theirs to control. The future is indeed bright for these burgeoning musicians.
